What is Solar Supercharge?

Solar Supercharge is a three-day national summit for a clean energy future focused on taking action and having an impact. It will be a moment when hundreds of leaders and volunteers from across the clean energy movement come together to get skilled-up, plan for the 2016 election and kick-off an ambitious national campaign. The summit will include inspiring and informative speakers, powerful skills workshops and masterclasses, a political forum and a high-impact public action.

So come and be part of something big. Solar Supercharge is the event for everyone who wants to advance a clean energy future for Australia. Whether you're a long-time solar advocate, or a brand new Solar Citizen, we want to see you there!

When? Where?

13th-15th February 2016
Level 5, P-block, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Gardens Point Campus,
2 George St, Brisbane, QLD

You can view a detailed map of the campus here.

Why?

We’re at a tipping point when it comes to solar in Australia. Solar prices are plummeting and battery storage is looking better than ever, but we still don’t have the strong, bipartisan policies we need to lock in a solar-powered future. The decisions made now matter. That’s why we need to be louder than ever and make our voices heard.

We know you’re fed up with half-hearted and sometimes backwards action from our pollies, and with an election year approaching, now is the time to lock in the strong, bipartisan policy we need. Solar Supercharge will be the spark that ignites the battle for Australia’s solar future.

Who?

You! If you're someone who wants to see a clean energy future for Australia and you’re willing to get active to make it happen, then you should be at Solar Supercharge.

Questions?

How do I get there?

You will need to arrange your own transport to Brisbane - there are a number of regular flights, buses or trains you can take. If you come by plane, there is an airport train that takes you into the Brisbane CBD.

QUT Gardens Point Campus is about a 15min walk from South Bank Station, over the Goodwill Bridge. There are also a number of bus and ferry services from other locations and we recommend you use the Translink Journey Planner to plan your route.

I can't afford it. Can I get financial assistance?

Yes! We have a limited number of scholarships and discounts available to help you get to Solar Supercharge. These are especially for people who are championing the solar cause in their community, people for whom money is a barrier to them attending the summit, and/or people who are from diverse communities. If the cost of travel, accommodation or the summit is just too much for you, you should fill out this form to apply for a scholarship.

What’s included in a ticket?

An amazing three day experience with incredible speakers and sessions, new friends, great venues and more. We’re also looking into providing lunches and snacks for morning and afternoon breaks - to be confirmed soon.

We would love to offer five star accommodation and all your meals, but it would make your tickets ridiculously expensive. Thus, the following are not included in a ticket:

  • Travel to Brisbane
  • Accommodation
  • Breakfasts and dinners

Where do I stay?

You will need to arrange your own accommodation if you are from outside Brisbane. We are investigating nearby affordable accommodation options and will post a list of recommendations soon.

Will there be food?

You will need to arrange your own breakfasts and dinners. We’re providing lunches and snacks for morning and afternoon breaks. We will attempt to cater for a range of dietary requirements, such as vegetarian and gluten free, but delegates may also choose to bring their own food or purchase food from the nearby on-campus eateries.

I have a child I need to look after. How can I participate?

If you can arrange for a friend or family member to look after your child during the summit that would be best, but we know that's not always possible. Therefore, we're offering a childcare creche at the summit, staffed by qualified child care personnel, to help people with young children participate. Fill out this registration form by Monday 8th February to register your child for the creche.

I’ve got a ticket. What can I do next?

  • Get involved with Solar Citizens:
