The Home Battery Revolution in Australia

Securing a federal home battery rebate in the Cheaper Home Batteries Program is a game-changer that is already driving a surge in home batteries for solar homes, and will eventually drive down electricity prices for everyone.

Solar Citizens campaigned for nearly 3 years for a generous home battery rebate (in line with rooftop solar rebates) and welcomed its announcement by Prime Minister Albanese during the election campaign.

Solar Citizens CEO Heidi Lee Douglas said: "This policy builds on Australia’s rooftop solar success story. Ten million Australians now live in homes with rooftop solar, and share that solar energy with their neighbours during the day, slashing everyone’s daytime power bills.  Through this policy, millions of Aussie householders would be financially supported to add a home battery so they and their neighbours can use that cheap, clean solar day or night."
