Keep the CEFC & ARENA Clean

**UPDATE: After over 2,000 solar citizens wrote to Angus Taylor, more than 700 made submissions to a senate committee, nearly 1,000 joined the online rally to hand over 65,000 signatures to key MPs, and nearly 4,000 emailed key MPs and Senators, the legisation to unlock the CEFC to fossil fuels was quietly retired, and the ARENA regulations were blocked twice by the Senate, and finally scrapped by the new Labor Government. These are huge people-powered victories -and solar citizens across the country will continue to stand up for our clean energy future.**

Clean energy funding should be spent on clean energy. But the Federal Government wants to use Australia’s peak clean energy bodies to fund dirty fossil fuel projects.

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) are crucial to driving innovation and investment in clean energy.

But now the Government is trying to push through dodgy changes that would open the CEFC and ARENA up to invest in polluting gas, dirty hydrogen, and unproven carbon capture and storage (CCS).

Australia doesn’t need gas or CCS to transition to clean energy and our clean energy funding shouldn’t be used to prop up the declining fossil fuel industry at the cost of everyday Australians.

Act now and join thousands of Australians calling on the Federal Government to keep dirty fossil fuels out of our clean energy funding. Sign the petition.

Dear Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Federal Energy Minister Angus Taylor,

We urge you not to use the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) or the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) to fund dangerous investments in fossil fuel projects.

There is no justification for opening up ARENA and the CEFC to fund polluting gas and unproven carbon capture and storage (CCS), which are not viable or necessary solutions for lowering emissions and transitioning to renewables, and will draw funds away from legitimate clean energy technologies.

Wasting clean energy funding on risky and expensive gas and CCS investments will only serve to prop up the declining fossil fuel industry, while locking Australia into many more years of high emissions and the economic burden of stranded fossil fuel assets.

We’re calling on the Federal Government to protect Australia’s clean energy funding and keep dirty fossil fuels out of ARENA and the CEFC.
