we are blessed in Australia with the sun.. let us save ourselves the cost of high energy and change to solar energy. This is in the National Interest and hope all you politicians will do something about our energy and save our life style- clean, safe and the sun powering energy use. This also a more logical and a more intelligent solution to save expenses than burning fossil fuels. Thank you. Jarvis and family.

I have written to the member for Farrer previously on the RET, but her mind is closed on this issue. I am reminding her that 70% of the electorate disagrees with her, and will let her know at the next election. Maybe this will make a difference, where honesty, responsibility and common sense make no impact.

A reason to make the Abbott government a one-term government, just as Newman’s will be.
One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is the cost of transmitting energy to the home. Enough coal has to be burnt to produce a minimum of 3.2 watts of potential energy of coal which produces 1.12 watts of energy which in turn is transmitted via the wires to result in 1 watt of energy at the home. This is assuming everything in the grid is in top condition. If it isn’t, the wastage is higher. Most systems are NOT in top condition.
Generating power at the home bypasses the transmission and wastage problems. You produce 1 watt of energy to use 1 watt of energy.
The “macro” theory of providing water & energy through companies that need to make a profit or through politically biased governments should be phased out. The “micro” theory of buildings producing and storing a majority of their own water & energy requirements needs to be phased in as soon as possible.
This current Federal Government unfortunately lives in the 20th century not the 21st century.

I am so disappointed when I tell my children that our “smart and lucky” country has now decided to scrap the RET, and instead invest our interests away from renewable energy and into dirty polluting coal. This decision will go down as the moment Australia took a giant leap backwards in time and chose to further pollute our finite climate, and at a time when we are very aware of the global climate change issues, and all without any concern for future generations. In the future we will be economically disadvantaged when we have to source the technology and products from overseas to catch up with the rest of the world once to rectify this catastrophic mistake

How will they react when we start talking zero net emissions!? That’s were we will have to be, and soon, to stop man made climate change. And Solar must be part of the solution.

I’ve just written to my local MP Brett Whitely seeking his support for the RET including solar energy. It is a no brainer. And renewable energy will create jobs right across Australia. Perhaps it will provide jobs for your son and daughter, your husband or wife, your friends, your boyfriend or girlfriend, your brother or sis
ter, Get on board and give your support to the continuation of the Renewable Energy Target and a sustainable future. Thank you John.

There is another petition being organised to be presented in printed copy to the House of Representatives later in the year. This is modelled on the successful campaign undertaken by the suffragette movement in the 1890’s.
It is called the “The Monster Climate Petition” it is being organised by The Victorian Women’s Trust.
You can find the petition on their site or by Googling “The Monster Climate Petition”.
This petition needs to be supported and distributed widely.

There seems to be this thought that climate change is not impacting Australia. I live in north east Victoria and there is a glaring “canary in the coal mine” example. Mt. Buffalo, developed in the 1930’s as a ski resort by Victorian Railways, I learnt to ski and ice skate there in the 1950’s and even just 25 years ago our children had ski race training there each week. Now there is so little snow, the ski lifts have been removed and this year even the remaining toboggan slope was closed in the first week in August due to no snow!!
Lets get real, open our eyes and see the impacts of climate change all around us that are damaging Australia’s way of life while our government panders to the fossil fuel industry!
We must never stop reminding Tony Abbott and his henchmen that the long term viability of our planet is more important than the short term profits of his fossil fuel cronies.

Solar gets cheaper each year and worldwide rate of adoption of solar power has been faster than for mobile phones. Wind is already cheaper than coal and with the new silent archimedes screw turbines which are almost twice as efficient as the old blade turbines, coal should not even enter consideration. We have several perfect sites for geothermal energy, especially here in Queensland. Why would we pay for dirty, expensive fuel (coal and gas) that will just get more and more expensive every year? This government and their ultra-wealthy mates have betrayed the Australian people. They think they can just spit on us? Let’s show them differently.
I will be marching in Cairns on Sunday 31st August (this Sunday) to protest the destructive policies of this government and to emphasise that we the people of Australia will not put up with their regressive, irresponsible attitudes to the dangerous consequences of our warming Planet. This is escalating much more rapidly than was envisaged and unless we rise up and demand action, we will be suffering the consequences unnecessarily.

Kelly O’Dywer, member for Higgins and our local member, is not listed on your email list so I am unable to petition her. Is this a deliberate act on her part not to be accessible?
Tell your politicians they will lose your vote…this is all they actually care about.

We have brilliant innovation on solar in Australia, as well as a perfect positioning for using the sun’s free heat and energy. We’d be daft to not utilise that opportunity to its fullest extent – encourage local use, which helps industry and drives its innovation and export potential.
It’s just a matter of vision, or the lack thereof, whether we leverage that further.

I cannot believe our government is being so stupid! We have the opportunity to lead the world and we are wasting it because of corporate greed!!!
This is idiotic! Big Energy is not even slightly interested in greening the planet and has no interest in anything except pocketing more and more $$$$. Big Energy pays Big Taxes and the Government wants to keep those tax dollars rolling in, so the Government is anti-solar.
