Plug-in Solar for Renters

Together we can make Plug-in Solar and Batteries legally and safely available in Australia

These are small portable energy-saving systems to help you generate and store your own electricity, cut your power bill, that you can take with you when you move.

Yep, solar that doesn't need its own roof!

And the best part? This tech is already being used safely in Germany and the United Kingdom. Now Australia is getting ready to catch up.

Thanks to consumer action by Solar Citizens supporters, all Australia’s Energy Ministers have agreed to explore pathways to make Plug-in Solar and Battery technologies safely available in Australia.

Help us to turn that commitment into action.

We need nationally consistent safety standards, a clear timeline agreed by December 2026, and plug-in solar and batteries made safely and legally available across Australia by 1 July 2027.

Plug-in Solar for Renters WEBINAR - Thurs 5 November 12-1pm

We know Australia is a rooftop solar superstar, but more than 3 million renters, apartment residents and low-income households are still missing out on cheaper, renewable energy.

Making Plug-in Solar and Batteries legally available in Australia is part of the solution for renters and apartment residents.  (For the whole solution see our Unlock Solar for Renters campaign.)

People who rent or live in apartments deserve to enjoy the same cost-saving benefits that people in Europe, Britain and 10 states in America already do.
