The Unlock Solar for Renters Pol.is conversation was held between December 2025 - January 2026.
In this interactive online survey Solar Citizens invited renters, landlords and all Australians to express their views on how to overcome barriers to enable access to rooftop solar for rental homes.
717 people across Australia participated in this online conversation – with an estimated one-third of them landlords, one-quarter of them renters and the rest homeowners. They voted anonymously on statements that posed sentiments, barriers, and solutions to unlock solar for renters, and proposed their own statements.
In this report, we highlight community voices with the goal of identifying high-impact policy solutions to unlock solar for renters that have the strongest shared support from renters, landlords and the general public.
