Let’s take control of our energy bills
While Australia leads the world in the uptake of rooftop solar, too many Australians are missing out on the health and cost-saving benefits of access to clean, renewable energy to power their homes.
Around sixty per cent of Australians can’t access rooftop solar because they are either renting, living in apartments or social housing, or have low incomes and savings. (1)
We all deserve a safe and affordable home to heat, cool and cook in. By overcoming these barriers to cheap, clean energy, we can lower energy bills for everyone and get solar savings for all Australian households.

We call on all political parties to work on solutions to give all Australians access to clean, renewable energy to power our homes and reduce our bills. Where we live should not be a barrier to roof top solar savings. Renting, apartment living, residing in social housing and upfront costs are policy barriers only, and need to be addressed by the Government.
We call on every party to invest in powering all Australian homes and communities with rooftop solar, batteries, electric appliances and thermal improvements to help cut energy bills and reduce climate pollution for everyone.
Including:
- $1billion to enable people who rent, live in apartments and social housing, to access energy efficiency upgrades and solar power
- $2.5 billion for a Federal Home Battery Rebate under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) to fund 1 million home batteries to firm the grid and bring down energy prices for everyone.
