‘Raise the Roof’ calls for nations around the globe to commit to increase uptake of rooftop solar and battery storage. In particular, Solar Citizens is calling on the Australian Government and nations across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region to make a ‘Rooftop Solar Pledge’ at COP31 in November 2026, aligned to their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Scaling the implementation of rooftop solar backed by storage will provide cheap, clean energy to millions more people for generations to come, and drive down carbon emissions. It's also a way to fulfill the Global Renewables and Energy Efficiency Pledge made at COP28 in Dubai.

A Rooftop Solar Pledge for Australia
We're calling on the Australian Government to pledge to double rooftop solar backed by battery storage by 2035 at COP31—by committing to policies that enable renters, apartment dwellers, and commercial and industrial businesses to take part in the rooftop revolution!
The Rooftop Solar Alliance
We are calling on other nations across APAC to commit to their own Raise the Roof pledges —expanding rooftop solar and battery storage with energy equity solutions to ensure fair access to clean energy and cost of living benefits for all.
In the lead up to COP31, Solar Citizens is inviting civil society groups and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) within APAC to join a Rooftop Solar Alliance—a collaborative network for member organisations to share expertise, coordinate advocacy, and build political momentum for nations to adopt their own Rooftop Solar Pledges.
