The NSW Government has committed to a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and a 70% reduction by 2035. But it is not on track to meet these legislated targets on time.
That's where the NSW Net Zero Commission comes in... This independent body of experts was set up in 2024 to assess what needs to be done and by when, and has been tasked with providing direct recommendations to all areas of government, to make sure the government gets back on track to meeting the 2030 and 2035 targets.
So let's help the Net Zero Commission to do the best job they can, by telling them what needs to happen in NSW to drive cheap, clean energy for all, and close down coal-fired power stations like Eraring - the largest in Australia - on time.
The current round of consultation is open to all stakeholders for feedback and closes at 12pm on Friday 11 July - that means all individuals, households and businesses in NSW, including you!
To make it easy for you to take action, we've prepared the below submission template for you to personalise and send - it should take you between five to ten minutes (or maybe longer if you have a lot to say).
