SOLAR POWER IS SUMMER’S SIZZLING SUCCESS STORY

More than 1.4 million homes across Australia will celebrate the start of Summer today and the peak cost savings on their electricity bill from generating energy from their rooftop during the sunniest months of the year.

There nation’s solar homes now generate about 4,541,500 kw of clean energy and save millions of dollars on their electricity bills

Solar homes also help add stability to the network during the Summer peak and heat waves, when people set air conditioners at maximum for hours on end.

Solar Citizens Campaigns Director, Dan Scaysbrook, said Australians loved solar power and this was their time to shine.

“Solar power is the success story of the Summer,” he said.

“ Australia is leading the charge in embracing this cost saving technology with Australian leading the world in taking control of their power bills by taking generation into their own hands.

“Solar homeowners also see solar batteries, coupled with rooftop PV, as an exciting opportunity to generate clean power and save even more on bills

“A recent Essential Poll found 71% of people think Australia should put more emphasis on producing domestic energy from solar power.

“We know there are many thousands of people interested in installing rooftop solar power and there has never been a better time to go solar.

“The price of a standard solar system has fallen by 75% over the past seven years and the hot summer months are peak times for generating your own power.

“Rooftop solar means cheaper power for homeowners and it means new jobs and less polluting power generation for all of Australia.

“By using clean energy from the wind and sun, we can create healthy cities and towns, good jobs and smart investments - and a happy surprise when we open our power bills,” he said.
