Stop QLD solar discrimination - Solar Citizens

Stop QLD solar discrimination

UPDATE: Following an outcry from Solar Citizens and other solar owners across the state, the QLD government is already backing down. On Tuesday, 4 June, Premier Newman talked about solar fees on 4BC radio. He said that “A deal is a deal... we will not fiddle with that. If they've qualified, if they’re part of the scheme, they will get their 44 cents. The other commitment I make this afternoon is that we won’t be imposing some special tax or levy on those people with a panel.”

The proof is in the pudding: when we work together, we can achieve results!

Will you sign?

Dear Premier Newman,

I am extremely concerned about the proposal from the Queensland Competition Authority to move solar power owners on to a different electricity charging system, costing them $200 more each year than other electricity users.

Solar is one of the best ways for ordinary Queenslanders to take control of their energy bills and do their bit for the environment. That is why more than 300,000 homes in Queensland have already gone solar.

To penalise solar owners who are trying to do the right thing just doesn’t make sense. Please confirm that your government will not be penalising solar owners in this way.

In the sunshine state, using the sun to create power just makes sense. Let’s keep using it.

Yours Sincerely,
