SOUTH AUSTRALIA POWERS AHEAD WITH 100% LOW CARBON POWER GOAL
Solar Citizens has welcomed the South Australian Government’s announcement today of a goal to power the state government by 100% “low carbon electricity”.
National Director Claire O’Rourke said Premier Jay Wetherill had acted ahead of upcoming Paris climate talks to seize the huge opportunity provided by renewable energy to grow jobs, promote innovation and help make a better future for our children.
“A global race towards a clean energy future is on and South Australia has today pulled ahead with its 100% “low carbon electricity” commitment,” Ms O’Rourke said.
“Premier Wetherill has shown strong leadership in placing renewable energy at the forefront of future energy plans for South Australia.
“The Australian community believes in solar and renewables as the smart way of meeting our energy needs now and for ensuring a robust and thriving economy.
“Solar Citizens calls on all state Premiers to follow South Australia’s lead and raise their renewable energy ambition by supporting innovation and growth in solar and wind power.
“Australians are ready for the jobs, opportunities and savings on power bills that solar and other renewable energy technologies deliver,” she said.
