Townsville - Queensland’s renewable energy boom

Welcome to Queensland’s renewable energy boom

Townsville & The Dry Tropics

Making Townsville the state’s solar capital

There's a renewable energy boom happening in North Queensland, led by the Townsville & Dry Tropics region.

Three new solar farms are already operating and a dozen renewable power stations are in the works. This will provide electricity for the entire region and excess can be shared with the rest of the state.

"There’s real satisfaction in working with an energy source that’s good for the community and the environment"
– Ellen Sacilotto, electrical engineering student.

From Ellen at the Ross River Solar Farm to Ian at Chipmunks Play Centre, these are the inspiring people behind Queensland’s energy transformation.
