Protecting the Renewable Energy Target opportunity helps Aussies and the planet
Solar Citizens is calling on the Federal Government to abandon its attempt to cut the Renewable Energy Target following the release of the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report.
According to National Director of Solar CItizens, Claire O’Rourke the most sensible way for the Government to help people with their household power bills, create jobs and address climate change is by protecting the Renewable Energy Target (RET).
“Australia is one of the sunniest countries on earth, so our transition to renewable energy is right at our fingertips,” Ms O’Rourke said.
“What is lacking right now is the will from the Government to make a strong solar and renewable energy future happen for all of us.”
“Australians want to more solar, not less, which is why the Government needs to stop playing games with good policy and instead commit to keeping the full 41,000GW target.”
“With 1.3 million Australian homes with rooftop solar, it’s clear that the Australian public are already leading the switch to clean energy. That’s why our Government should follow the millions of solar voters and keep the Renewable Energy Target in place, in full.”
